ADI Castings have higher tensile strength, hardness
and yield strength compared to steel forgings. ADI castings are versatile: Wellsville Foundry
has the technology and experience needed to upgrade
75-80% of all steel forgings using one or more of our
five grades of ADI. The “net” advantage: ADI castings are closer to
net shape, so they require less total material, and minimal
metal removal, compared to steel forgings Material and manufacturing costs: The material
cost for ADI castings is lower than for steel forgings. Also,
ADI castings from Wellsville Foundry can be manufactured,
on average, for about 20% less than steel forgings. Lower energy costs: the manufacture of ADI
castings consumes about half the energy required to
produce steel forgings. Greater Uniformity: ADI castings are austempered,
a process that produces greater uniformity. Superior wear / abrasion resistance: ADI
castings offer superior abrasion resistance and wear
resistance compared to steel forgings – and this important
property improves with use. High fatigue strength: ADI castings exhibit
fatigue strength greater than steel forgings. Better noise damping: The graphite content in
ADI castings has a noise damping effect that is useful
for many applications.
